  • "In Matthew Sklar's onstage radio drama, director Tim Byron Owen and company leave no joke unturned as they smoothly bring to life the personality-filled, everyday mishaps of an old-time radio troupe."
    - Backstage West

When a modest, unassuming gentleman is smitten by a hauntingly beautiful woman he has met by chance in an Irish bar, his heretofore lackluster life takes a decidedly abrupt turn with an all-consuming relationship which seems almost too good to be true. LOVE ME DEADLY is a suspenseful, award-winning thriller about one man's quest for love at any cost, and the terrible price that is ultimately paid.

  • "RECOMMENDED:"a full-throated ode to workady female toughness and aspiration... Director Tim Byron Owen gets wonderful performances from his three actors"
    - LA Weekly

"...Kuruvilla's script plays out in physical and emotional wallops... Director Tim Byron Owen displays a fine ability to traverse tricky setups with cast members playing multiple roles--the women play other characters in flashbacks. Of course it helps that he has a trio of strong performers to work with, all of whom offer powerful performances and have their own individual moments to shine."
    - Backstage West

"a near-perfect fusion of direction and performance... a power-house cast... Uniformly mesmerizing, the actors give performances that are works of art. Sullivan is a simmering Modigliani about to burst off the canvas, while Gardner is Munch caught between a smile and a scream. Loucks is a mobile made out of tensile wire, fixed in place but spinning with compressed energy."
    - Los Angeles Times

"The performances... are impressive displays of full-blooded naturalistic acting that appear real and spontaneous but are borne of disciplined, rigorous rehearsal. Laura Gardner (Mrs Davies), Bernadette Sullivan (Nia) and Magi Loucks (Peg) handle the emotional handbrake turns with the sucker-punch of a pugilist; there's a genuine sparky chemistry between them that chutzpahs the action along."

  • A NIGHT IN NOVEMBER

  • "CRITICS PICK: Maguire is an amazing performer whose very features alter with each character he inhabits. Director Tim Byron Owen milks every beat; the audience laughed so hard they groaned."
    - Backstage

RECOMMENDED: From casual and comedic storytelling to remarkable action sequences, director Tim Byron Owen and Maguire generate electricity that results in some theatrical brilliance."
    - LA Weekly

"CRITICS PICK: A Night in November is one to remember, thanks to a superb multi-character performance by Marty Maguire and a razor-sharp script by Marie Jones... In Tim Byron Owen's deft, no-frills staging, switching between characters--sometimes in mid-sentence--is seamless and thoroughly believable... a moving testament to the hopes and heartbreaks facing divided peoples everywhere."

  • TUESDAY NIGHTS AT SFG
  • Tuesday Nights at SFG offer our members and guests a forum to collaborate in a variety of creative, educational and career oriented programs.

  • SORROWS AND SONS
  • After a successful workshop production in the fall of 2002, we are happy to report that we have once again secured the rights to two one acts, SORROWS AND SONS and SPITTIN' IMAGE, by acclaimed playwright Stephen Metcalfe, and will be working with him, along with acclaimed director Ted Post, on mounting a world premiere production.

SORROWS AND SONS, the current title for the evening, is a Vietnam-era piece that deals with the deep and lasting scars left upon the family members of a young man who was lost in that war. It is an important and timely treatment of the costs of war on the home front, and the effect on the lives and relationships of those left behind. SFG is excited to present this play as part of our ongoing mission to produce works that educate and provoke thought and discussion within our community.
